Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs between the Warriors and the Thunder was a good one. I'm actually in the bay area right now. Last night I was at Fisherman's wharf. It was fun enough, but if I thought about it, I would have gone to Oakland where they were showing the game in their stadium. The game was actually being played in Oklahoma, but they showed the game to the fans on the big screens in the stadium. I did that once in Portland. It was the same kind of game. Portland was well behind, but had a great comeback to win. Plus the only people that will make a special trip just to see the game on a giant TV are the big-time fans. That is what makes it exciting. You're there with the folks that take this very seriously.
Granted, you really are just watching TV, but with ten thousand other rabid maniacs. And what a great game that would have been to see. It was a comeback right in the last four minutes of the game. I experienced it on the car radio / cell phone up-dates / on tv for that last 20 seconds when the changed the channel to the game in the restaurant. So, I had kind of a choppy version of those last few minutes. I still felt some closeness to the game, though, just being in the bay area at the time. So Monday night its do-or-die / for all the marbles / win or go home / there's no tomorrow or whatever other sports cliches there are.
