Who's Line is it, Anyway? - Colin's or Brad's

I saw Colin and Brad a couple weeks ago. They're two of the people from the show "Whose Line is it, Anyway?"

If you've never seen it, first of all, shame on you, and secondly, it's great. It always has four people on it who are given prompts and then they ad-lib a sketch. Colin is always on it and Brad is on most episodes. Anyway, the show is hilarious, but their live show is hilariouser.

Watching the show I've always had the suspicion that they had to make certain allowances. Maybe they didn't know the set-up, but they had some kind of hint about it ahead of time. And maybe they had to do several takes to get a good one for the show.

Oh, no. That isn't how it works. They really are that good. They had people in the audience yell out ideas, crazy ideas, then they would act them out. I can't remember anything they said that wasn't funny. They also had audience members come up on stage. (Not me, though. There went my chance to meet my hero, Colin.) There is just no way they could plan anything out ahead of time. They would play off each other amazingly. Also, sometimes they would make a joke that tied into something from a sketch an hour earlier in the show. I've always been impressed by people like Johnny Carson or David Letterman that could come up with funny stuff so quickly. But this was beyond anything I've seen before.

It was somewhat similar to the TV show. They did 6 or 7 bits, but in the live show each of them lasted for 15 or 20 minutes. They just keep going and going.

One bit was just them talking about some situation, then one would say (I think it was) ,"What do you make of that?" Then that person had to make up and sing a song about that situation. Another one had two audience members moving Brad and Colin's body parts as they acted out a routine. I know that doesn't sound that funny, but trust me. It was. Another was them acting out a scene with others supplying sound effects. Colin's sound effects were supplied by an audience member on stage with a microphone. Brad's were supplied by a mike that was passed down the back three rows of the audience, each person supplying a different sound, then passing the mike to the next person.

So watch Who's Line to see how funny they are, then multiply it by ten.
