Top 10 Reasons I Don't Like the Super Bowl

I feel like I should do a post about the Super Bowl. There are plenty of reasons I like it. T
hat is too easy. Let's look at reasons not to like it. OK, why I don't like it.
  1. Two weeks between the conference championships and the Super Bowl. That is just for more hype. How much can you talk about it? A lot, apparently. By day two I heard an announcer discussing won-loss records of various jersey colors and which ones the teams should go with.
  2. Cam Newton. I don't like him. First of all, he beat my Oregon Ducks in the college championships a few years ago. Secondly, they whole Superman thing. It's arrogant and self-centered. Anyone that doesn't like him is accused of being racist or not having any fun or both. Whatever.

  3. Cam Newton. (I've got so much on him, he doesn't fit on one line.) He runs too much. They should have a rule like we had in driveway football. The QB gets to run once per set of downs. Otherwise, the QB sends all his receivers long and then takes off himself. Big gain every time. I don't think it's that much different in the NFL. QB's should run or pass, not both.
  4. Commercials. The commercials are overrated. Every year I hear they'll be awesome, and then I'm disappointed in them. Maybe I need to lower my expectations.
  5. Halftime shows. I'm not sure I've ever watched one all the way through. Its just for the non-football fans that are watching because its an event with food, the commercials and the half-time shows. The people putting on know they're watching and have to fill it up with non-football stuff.
  6. Non-football fans. You can spot them a mile away. You can tell they really don't know what is going on, but in their mind, they think they should be an anchor on Sportscenter. They especially like to question plays after they turn out badly.
  7. Comparisons to John Elway. Since Denver is in the SB, they love to bring up how great Elway was in winning two Super Bowls. No, he wasn't. He won two and lost three of them. And didn't just lose, but by scores of 55-10, 42-10, 39-20. Then in his next one, he played badly, but they won in spite of him. His last one he played well. That was it. All together he had 3 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in Super Bowl games.
  8. Losing. My favorite SB's are the ones where I'm not rooting for anyone. When I root for someone, I lose. I'm rooting for Denver this year due to peer pressure and Cam Newton (See reasons #2 and #3). I'll lose again this year.
  9. The shopping networks. Right after the game, immediately change the channel to a shopping network and they'll probably have t-shirts and hats of the winning team already printed up. Actually I don't like this immediate commercialism, and in a way, it's kind of fun.
  10. Coming up with this list. Now I'm depressed. I'm not really this negative, but I got on a roll. I actually like the Super Bowl, but there are things about it that bother me a little, tiny bit. I just went crazy with this list. I'm sorry.
