Universal Studios

I almost forgot to say something about my trip to Universal Studios. Fun. I read someplace recently that the key to enjoying things is to keep your expectations low. Amen. If they're too high, the thing you're doing could be really good and you're still disappointed. In the case of Universal, worry that we could miss our flight, it's too crowded, it's too hot, there's a hurricane, rides are broken down, etc. See how it works? It might sound odd, but at least in terms of vacations, pessimism is the key to happiness.

It wasn't perfect, but well above my pessimistic thoughts. Even if I was an optimist, I think I would have had a pretty good time. I went online to see some of the likes and dislikes visitors had.

1. Overpriced - Of course it is. So we did everything we wanted to do in Orlando, because we're never going back. That meant three days in Universal and one day of Epcot Center. From pictures I've seen, Disneyworld seems to be a clone of Disneyland, which I've done many times. They have some Disney Jungle Park or something. Animals are animals. If you want to see animals go to a zoo that charges less than a bazillion dollars and you're set. They have some Disney Movie Studio Park (I'm too lazy to Google it to get the actual name). When I looked it up a few months ago it looked like it had 3 or 4 things that were unique and interesting. So scratch that one, too. That left Epcot - Disney's nerdish, know-it-all little brother. But I thought that would be kind of interesting at least for a day. Schedule set.

2. Too hot - Yes, it's in Florida. Don't go in the summer.

3. Too crowded - Don't go in the summer, weekends, Halloween, Thanksgiving through Christmas,or during special events they set up. That only leaves you with a handful of days. That's fine. Go then.

4. Some said they weren't really into Harry Potter - Don't go then.

I was planning on talking about the parks, but looks like I didn't get to it. Next time.
