I try for a couple blogs a week. This week I couldn't because I was in Florida. Oh yeah, that's right - Florida. Universal Orlando Theme Park to be specific. I'm in the middle of doing my concert reviews so I'll have to review my trip a little while from now. Needless to say, it was pretty fun.
There was an opening act to Randy. Usually I don't like that kind of thing, but this one was good. I don't remember her name, but it was Loudon Wainwright's daughter. I think Loudon is mostly famous for his hit Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road. He's a little quirky and so is he.
Lucy Wainwright Roche (I Googled it) did songs on a guitar. They were all pretty serious, but in between songs she talked and was really funny.
Randy followed her. Again it was just him with no one backing him up. Just him and his piano. You can plainly see this from the terrible, blurry picture I took. He did his hits, which aren't really a huge collection - You've Got a Friend in Me, I Love LA, were a couple. He also did the theme to Monk, although he didn't do it that night.
I like G rated concerts and his was at least PG-13. Being only one person kind of limited his sound. But my expectations weren't super high to begin with, so it was entirely adequate.
