Boz Scaggs

Boz Scaggs was another concert I went to this summer. I had actually seen him before. He had thrown out the first pitch at a SF Giants game I went to. Granted he was unrecognizable from the high-altitude seats I had, but that's fine.

The Boz was a little disappointing. First of all, there was a duo that played a bunch of instrumental stuff first. Good, but interminable. Its like at movies when they say it starts at a certain time, but there are a million commercials and previews so it starts at about half an hour later. (Don't get me started on that.)

Boz finally came out. I knew a bunch of his songs. He just didn't do them. He did do Lido Shuffle and Lowdown, but other than those two and a song called Georgia, he did a bunch I didn't know. We could have stuck with that first duo if he was just going to play some music. I left when he started his first encore song. It was another one I hadn't heard of and was an instrumental. When I got back to my car, which had to be ten minutes later, it was still going.

One other issue. They said Boz requested no photography during his concert. Really, Boz? You had a handful of hits a long, long time ago. Are all the paparazzi getting to you? I can't imagine that. If your really private, that's fine, but then why do concerts in front of a bunch of people? Its no big deal, and it didn't stop me from taking pictures, but it just seemed a little odd.

Musically he was good and sounds like the same old distinctive Boz, but the experience was just a little sub-par.
