The Wright Brothers

There is a book out about the Wright Brothers by David McCollough. I've thought about what a weird time that must have been. Things were changing so much. They say things change so much now. I don't think so. Really, what has changed in the past several years or even decades? Televisions have gotten bigger. Phones have more stuff on them. What else?  I don't know. They've improved some things, but I don't think people have really invented anything much.

On the other hand, imagine being born in 1870 or so. There are no telephones, movies, cars, airplanes, electric lights, or recorded music. And in your lifetime they all come about. I would think your head would be spinning. Imagine the first time you would see an airplane. That would be weird and frightening. Nothing happening today comes even close to any of those inventions. Now people just wait around for the latest version of Windows or I-phone.
