In my ongoing attempt to make the world a better place, I thought I might take some blog time to bring up some lessons from my own life. Here are a couple I've experienced that others might learn from:
1. Read the label. I don't know if I've brought this up before. Even if I have, it bears repeating. I once brushed my teeth with Desitin. Bad idea. Its my fault for not reading the label. I do hold the company partially responsible, though. The read, white, and blue tube looked a lot like Crest toothpaste's. It came out of the tube looking like Crest. For all I know it might be just as good a dentrifice as Crest. It doesn't tasted good though. In fact, really, really bad. Really bad.
2. Don't guess at things. I was teaching impressionable minds about our governmental system. We all know there are three branches in our government. Wouldn't you would think the executive branch is the smallest? At least that's what I thought. And told them. The President, VP, cabinet - that's about it, right? A few days later we watched a movie about the executive branch. Turns out, its pretty big. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it turns out it includes stuff like the President, Vice President, cabinet, the postal service, the FBI, CIA, army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard... Yeah, it's big. You really want to check out your facts ahead of time.
I'm sure I've got more life examples for you. I'll think about it.
