Speed of Light

I just noticed my car has 186,000 miles on it. We've been through quite a bit together. I can't say its still going strong, but its going as strong as it ever has. It occurred to me that if I had gone all that way in one second I would be traveling at the speed of light. Light is pretty darn fast. If I understand the theory of relativity correctly, if I could go that fast I would also have infinite mass which would probably hurt your gas mileage. So, it's a trade-off.

This might be a record for me. My goal is 200,000 miles. I've had cars get close to 200,000 miles, but I've never made it there. Something always goes wrong. There is usually some major repair where it makes more sense to get another car than put that money into it. Or I hit a deer. Stupid deer. This time I'm so close that I won't let any repair, no matter how expensive, stop me. I can get out and push if I have to. I figure it will take about a year. If I could find a 14,000 mile downhill I would have it made. Now that I think about it, I think that is about how far it is around the Earth. I guess I still have a long way to go.

Its almost my car's birthday. I wrote the date I bought it on the owners manual so I could celebrate each year. I'll check, but I think it is July 11, which is four days from now. Happy birthday, Neo. His (I think he's a boy) name is Neo because it is a Dodge Neon. I thought I would get another after Neo passes on, but I just saw somewhere they don't make them anymore. What? I see a lot of them around.

I used to have a Celica named Cecilia. I used to sing her a little song - "Oh Cecilia, you're breaking my heart. Why won't you start." I don't remember the rest of it. She didn't really like the song.

Below is one of Neo's proudest moments. I was in Bowling Green, KY. They have a plant there that produces all of the Corvettes made in the USA. About a mile from the plant they have a Corvette museum. I didn't pay to go in to the museum part. They had a huge lobby and restaurant that seemed as cool as the museum would be. Out front they had their closest parking reserved for anyone that was actually driving a Corvette. I don't even remember any handicapped parking. "We don't need your rules. We're Corvettes."

Anyway, Neo wanted a picture of him in front of the plant so he could show all his friends. Happy birthday, Neo. And many more. Or at least enough to get you to 200,000.
