Oh, Spotify, where have you been all my life. This is a great little site for listening to music. Unless you want to pay extra you get 30 second ads every three or four songs, but I can live with that. It has complete albums on it. Its tough to find many CD's in stores anymore. And if they hit their peak a while ago probably all store would have is greatest hits or best of collections.
There are a lot of singers I've heard of and not necessarily even been a fan of, but I thought I should listen to so I could hear what all the hubub was about. The people I would listen to probably dates me along with the term "hubub", but that's fine. Some of these were popular before I was born, but its kind of like listening to music history. So, I've listened to several albums each by Petula Clark, Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, John Denver, Patsy Cline, John Lennon. I've never thought I would like hard rock stuff like AC/DC, Aerosmith, etc. I tried them out. Nope. Not a fan. And what about people like Beyonce or Rihanna? Trying my best to fit into this century, I feel I should know something about them. I don't know what they look like or sound like and am only fairly confident I can correctly pronounce their names, so I gave them a listen. If, like I, you don't listen to their songs that have explicit lyric warnings on them (which really reduces their catalogue) they're OK I guess. But again, not for me. I have discovered I do like Kelly Clarkson. Her theme seems to be - I've just had my heart broken, but I will be stronger because of it, and I will sing about it really loud. That's cool, I think I like Ed Sheeran. Maybe I'll start listening to the rap music. Just kidding. That won't happen. But Spotify has helped me to see if I would like someone one without risking money on it. Here I come 21st century.
