Commissioner of Baseball

I heard back from my new buddy, Robert Manfred, the new Commissioner of Baseball. You might recall I had written to him with my ideas on how to improve the game. I thought I might get a letter back, but I wasn't sure. But he wrote me back, bless his heart. I had several points, although he only talked about the Pete Rose case and how he was going to impartially look at the facts. Good enough. He's probably getting a lot of opinions on that. All the comments I've seen on-line are all heavily pro-Pete. I and most of America can't believe with all the very bad things that have been done that have resulted in week-long, month-long suspensions, betting on some baseball games gets a lifetime ban. I think they have to do something with Pete. I hear the all-star game is in Cincinnati this year. That will draw a lot of attention to the issue. Pete is going to be allowed to make an appearance regardless. Baseball trots Pete out when its in their interest, otherwise he's dead to them.

Back to my new buddy. It was fun getting mail from him. It said "Office of the Commissioner" in the corner of the envelope with their little baseball logo. I almost celebrated right there at the mailbox, but not wanting to embarrass myself in front of the neighbors, I held back. I've told a lot of h.s. seniors in the past to use one of their graduation announcements and invite the president. Granted, he'll probably be busy, but you likely get a card back from the White House with something like, "The President and Mrs. Obama regretfully will not be able to attend your graduation ceremony, but wish you the best." How fun is that. I bet they don't do that kind of thing in Russia. God bless America.
