Mighty Ducks

What about those Ducks? New Year's Day couldn't have gone much better. First of all we didn't just win, we humiliated Florida State. I don't mind them generally, but their quarterback is a jerk, so it was awesome.

What was more than I was hoping for is that Ohio State could somehow beat Alabama. Way to go, Buckeyes, whatever Buckeyes are. I would make fun of your name, but we are the Ducks. Not knowing what one is, perhaps a Buckeye is some type of ferocious thing that makes a great mascot. I do know what a duck is and I know they aren't very ferocious.

I try not to get my hopes up in these kinds of things, but this time I can't help it. I think Oregon will win. I'm setting myself up to be crushed if they don't, but oh well. I don't think OSU is really all that great. I wouldn't have had them in the 4 team playoffs anyway. Due to injuries they are having to play their third string quarterback. I didn't watch the game, but his stats weren't that great. He barely completed half their passes. They beat Alabama because their running game was better than it had been all year. If their running game comes back to earth and their quarterback is as good as third stringers usually are, we should win. If we mess up and have several turnovers, that would put OSU in the game, but Marcus isn't likely to do that. Last game he threw one interception, which is huge for him.

If within one year my little Seahawks will have won the Super Bowl and my Ducks win the College FB Championship, that would be unbelievable. If the Ducks win and I could just get Pete Rose into the hall of fame, my life's work will be complete.
