The baseball playoffs are underway. I don't really care all that much. Teams I might possibly root for - The Reds, Cubs, Braves, Mariners are just spectators like me now. The first three were all finished a while ago. The Mariners held on until the last day. They had a real shot with 10 games to go, then lost 5 of the next six. So at least I could quit worrying about them. But then they won their final 4 in a row. But the equally inept team ahead of them won their final game to break my heart. If you are going to lose, do it early so you don't get people's hopes up. Teams like the Cubs, who are already close to being mathematically eliminated for next season, have the right idea.

If I'm rooting for anyone, it's the Royals. They have adorable, pretty blue uniforms and haven't been to the playoffs for a long time. I was at a Royals game once. Great stadium. They had a nice outfield area where the did that criss-cross in the lawn by mowing in different directions. I've tried that with my lawn with disappointing results. Anyway, I had a good view of the grass from my mile-high seats. After our Sherpa guide showed us our seats, we could look downward and see the outfield grass far below. So for now, let's go Royals.
