KFC

There are a couple of things I haven't seen in Louisville. Thomas Edison used to live here for a while. Most of his famous work was done elsewhere, but I thought I needed to check it out. It was only about half a mile from where we were staying. Apparently there was only one person on duty because there was no one to take tickets because he was giving a tour. The tours were five dollars. The first couple of rooms were kind of interesting, so I took a few pictures of those, left, and saved $5. Sorry Thomas.

The headquarters of Kentucky Fried Chicken is in Louisville. How could I not check that out? The original KFC restaurant is in Corbin, Kentucky (Radio station WKFC, seriously) within an hour of where I live. I've already been there, of course. The headquarters is on the outskirts, so it took a bit of getting to. On the way there I stopped at a KFC. Why not? Although, this was a Super KFC. It was called KFC 10 or something. I guess its the coming thing. It was super cool with internet, groovy decorations, etc. Even the people eating there were fancy like they had some kind of dress code.

On to the headquarters. It was a several big white buildings. I had heard it had a small museum. It took some searching but I found it. Just a small room, but pretty cool. It had his white suit displayed and a lot of other memorabilia. It had one of his original advertising slogans, which is great. "$1.70 - Not worth it, but mighty good."

That was pretty cool although the people there weren't particularly friendly. I guess I expected more of a Disneyland atmosphere. At the end I stood outside to take a picture of the main building. A person in a little cart told me they didn't allow pictures of the building. OK, chicken nazi. Even though the building is out for all to see and you have your big old logo on it, I won't take a picture. (I did anyway.) I suppose somehow that is going to give clues to what the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices are.
