I was at volleyball games on Thursday night, then a tournament today, Saturday, and then Monday and Tuesday, and then a middle school basketball game on Thursday. That should be enough to last me for about a decade. Volleyball is not a big spectator sport to begin with, and in this quantity it might be just a little much, but so far, I'm hanging in there. It could be a spectator sport with just a few simple rule changes. In football, you can rush the quarterback to try to put pressure on him before he throws. You could do the same in volleyball. At the start everyone would have to be on their own sides, but after the ball is served, you could send one or two players under the net to spice things up. They couldn't physically interfere with someone hitting it, but you could wave your hands in her face, taunt her, or run at her veering off at the last second. If you did that, you would have fewer players back on defense, though. See how that add a whole new level of strategy and fun to the event?
Growing up I didn't know if it was called volleyball or bolleyball. I tried to listen closely, but every time I heard the word spoken, it seemed like it could go either way. I just now realize I could have just looked it up in a dictionary and gotten that cleared up fairly quickly.
Our volleyball team isn't all that good. Thursday night we did win a couple games against Kentucky School for the Deaf. We then lost the next three, but it was our first two wins of the year, so hurray. It was kind of interesting. I don't think I've been around that many deaf people at one time. After a while you don't even think anything about it. There also is a Kentucky School for the Blind. I wonder if they have a volleyball team? If so, I think I might try to schedule them. I think that would be a winnable game for us.
