Big Red Machine

We went to a Cincinnatti Reds game a week and a half ago. Great game. My boy, Joey Votto, hit a home run. Bruce played well, which means the crowd got to say Bruuuuuuuuce every time he came up. We beat St. Louis 7-2. AND they gave out Reds steins to the first 20,000 fans. Made it, although not by a lot. Twenty minutes later and we wouldn't have gotten our steins.

We didn't sit in the cheapest section this time. Instead of the $12 bleacher seats, we splurged on $19 seats. Laterally, they were between home and first. Elevation-wise we were up a ways. Frost formed on my stein. Eagles were getting nosebleeds. I took the included picture. I know I wasn't, but I felt like I was pointing my camera straight down.

My Reds ended up with a great series agains the Cards and then the Dodgers - two top teams. Then we got beaten up by the Cubs, the typically mathematically-eliminated-by-May Cubs. I'm predicting we make the playoffs and then an early exit. Its not what I want, but I sense that is what is going to happen.

So I'm going with the Reds, but I also like the Braves. They have my other guy - Dan Uggla. When he gets a hit (not often), its probably going to be a home run. He has a very low batting average, but a bunch of home runs. Its like he just closes his eyes and swings as hard as he can.
Also in Cincinnati has the home of William Howard Taft. I dropped by there before the game. When I'm in a president's home like Taft or Tayor, etc, I'm reminded of the Simpson episode where they put on a school play about mediocre presidents. It had a catchy song that had one of my favorite Simpsons lines in it.

"We are the mediocre presidents,
You won't find our pictures on dollars or on cents."

Good lyrics.
