Indy 500

I ran about 7 miles yesterday. I did that in Cumberland Gap Park. I'm trying to move my longest run of the week up by a mile every one or two weeks. That's because I registered this week for a half-marathon. I did a marathon about a year and a half ago. I swore then (at about mile 18) I would never do a marathon again. I wasn't all that sure about half-marathons either, but I cannot pass this up. Its in Indianapolis and in the middle of the course you run a lap on the Indy 500 race track!! Yea baby. One lap on their track is 2.5 miles. So I'm coming out of my half-marathon retirement because that is just too cool of a deal to pass up.

I figure I should try to get up at least one 10 mile run a week. I've got until May to get there. When I ran my marathon I had run about 13 miles at most leading up to it. I think my last half marathon, I ran at most 7 miles before that. Apparently being in shape for a race is not enough of a challenge for me. This way I don't actually go for a certain time - I have the extra challenge of seeing if I'll be able to finish. If things work out, maybe I can work my way up to running about 15 miles at a time, but its tougher to do in the winter, so I don't know.
