So its not New England colors, but this was the view from my room a week or two ago. It wasn't quite at its peak, but pretty close. I don't think its hit freezing at night yet, but I don't think that time is far off. That hillside is now pretty much just a bunch of sticks.
This past week definitely started feeling like fall. All we got from Hurricane Sandy was a good amount of rain for a day and a half. We were just on the outskirts. I know it did a lot of damage elsewhere, but it was just an inconvenience here. It was hard to get real worried about "Sandy". The only Sandy's I could think of were Sandy Koufax and Sandy Duncan. Sandy Koufax did have a mean fastball, but otherwise, I think he was a pretty easygoing guy. Sandy Duncan also seems easygoing and doesn't have a very mean fastball at all.
I don't know if its a nationwide hit or just here, but I've heard a song, "If I Could Have a Beer with Jesus" several times. I think that pretty well sums up the Kentucky experience.
