Christmas in Washington

You probably are supposed to only have happy thoughts during Christmastime. At least I'll get my negative thoughts out of the way first. So, here we go.

In church today we sang "Little Drummer Boy". More correctly, they did. In protest, I did not participate. In a previous blog, I have already made so of  my thoughts known about that song. There was no little drummer boy. I know, there could have been. So there could have been flying saucers and aliens visiting, too. Let's have a carol about that. And what's with the lyric, "The ox and lamb kept time, par rum pum pum pum". Drums do not make that sound and, secondly, what did that look like exactly? Were they clapping along? Tapping their hooves?

We have two electric reindeer in our front lawn. (Not my idea.) One has it's head bobbing up and down like he's eating grass. Yesterday, the other one's head fell off and is just lieing there. Probably a bit disturbing to neighborhood children.

Any bad stuff is all made up for, though, with the TV show - Christmas in Washington. It's my favorite thing about Christmas. Conan O'Brien was the host and was hilarious. Justin Bieber (dreamy) and others sang. Afterwards I came down with a touch of Bieber fever, but I'm fine now. At the end, the President always has a Christmas message. It happens in The Building Museum in Washington. I visited there once just because of that TV show. It looks pretty much the same as on TV, but looks a whole lot smaller. I'm not sure how they cram all those people in there.

Another highlight coming up is my annual Wal-Mart trip. I am in charge of buying presents for stockings. I always make a Christmas trip to Wal-Mart at 2:00 a.m. It's me and about 4 other people doing their shopping. No battling the Christmas rush.
